November. I don't know how this happened. The months have gone on and left me floating along. I have done very few of the things I set out to do this year. I guess I still have time to do a thing or two.
I was going to have a yard sale but the building leaked. I threw away my yard sale stuff. At least, that's one good thing that came out of the leaky roof.
I just finished reading three books by Sonny Brewer. I wish I had three more, I liked them all. My favorite is A SOUND LIKE THUNDER.
Sonny, I hope you are writing.

I've been able to meet Sonny at several Blue Moon events at Lemuria Books in Jackson, Mississippi, to review his first book, " "The Poet of Tolstoy Park," for the Jackson Free Press, and to read "A Sound Like Thunder" after Mama and I moved to Portland, Oregon, to be near my two sons. Several hours ago, I finished "Cormac."
I wanted to tell you about something I found here in Portland, not too long after I had finished reading "A Sound Like Thunder." I went to an estate sale a couple of blocks from our apartment; the man had been a collector and/or seller of bells. I came across an old, rusted a bit, well-used bell. What caught my eye, other than its shape, was the pice of paper taped to it, making me think it might have been in a museum at some point. I picked it up and read through the dust encrusted old tape that stretched across the strip of paper: "Historical Information (supposedly from) BAY QUEEN (circa 1915) Mobile - Fairhope." I just about dropped the bell, shock at what I had read running through me. I couldn't wait to get home and call Sonny to tell him about it. He was shocked, too. I keep the bell in our front hall with other items that called my name.
